YouTube is a massively popular social media channel - in fact, it’s one of the biggest there is, with around 5 billion videos watched each and every day. For online marketers, this presents a massive opportunity to reach a huge potential audience with the skills that can be learnt on online digital marketing courses.

However, in order to do that, you first need to create a YouTube channel. Fortunately, this is a pretty simple process that even novices can master - something that we seek to show you in this blog. Read on to see the three simple steps that stand between you and your very own YouTube following.

Step One - Signing In

The first step requires you to visit and click the Sign In button in the top right-hand corner of the page. Logging in is a very simple job, as it will automatically prompt you to sign in with your Google account (as Google owns the platform) if you’ve got one set up already. 

If you don’t have a Google account, you’ll be asked to create a YouTube account, automatically setting up a new one for you, with its own history and settings. These accounts will interlink to make your experience of both a smoother. 

Step Two - Creating Your Channel

After carrying out the very brief task laid out in step one, step two, if anything, is even simpler! All that stands between you and a place to employ all the knowledge learnt on social media courses is one more click of your mouse or smartphone screen. Selecting ‘create channel’ in the dropdown menu that appears when you click on your profile image is all that’s required.

It’s here that you can choose to create a personal or business channel - something that can be adjusted at any time from this point onwards. 

Step Three - Starting Broadcasting Content!

Now you’re ready to start broadcasting to the world about the value of your goods and services, but as most online marketing courses will tell you, building your viewing numbers is something that takes time and skill to achieve. You can’t expect your very first video to go viral, but as long as you create content with value and purpose, that will come in time.

The initial measures you can take to make your new channel more appealing include uploading of a profile picture or company branding, a channel description and links to your website or other social links. Of course, there’s much more you’ll need to do to gain interested followers and subscribers, but at the very least, you’re up and running!
